Thankful For..........

Here in the Matlock house, we do have a lot to be thankful for on this Thanksgiving! We had a great day with Memaw and Pawpaw Matlock. Addison loved the food and she really loved the attention! She even learned a new word, it was "Papa" I have heard that all day today! So we may need to learn a new word.

As always we are glad to be home, now it is time for the Christmas tree!

Baby Love

Little Addison is really starting to show her love for us! Usually it is toward her daddy. We are really excited about the up coming holidays. We have been really busy taking care of a rascal and just the normal ups and downs of life. Sorry it has been a while, but I promised Memaw a picture of little Addison! Here is one from a couple of nights ago.

Practice Makes Perfect

Well, lets hope so! I have been thinking about little Addison's birthday and well, I need to practice them important part. So, I have been baking. I have decided what cake I want to have, so I will have to work my way up to it. I made a cake tonight using fondant. I have never in my life tried this, but I think for a first timer it turned out ok. I love projects that have good results, so I know I need to make a few more so I can have even better results!

I am posting pictures that go through the entire journey.....

I baked a strawberry cake, and covered it in butter cream icing.

In this picture is the wrapped fondant. I made this fondant from marshmallows and powdered sugar. It was not that hard to make but it took me a little while to get the consistency correct.

Jon jumped in to help his ambitious wife on her little project. He was amazing. In this picture he is covering the cake.

For the try out cake I did not do what I plan to do with Addison's cake.I am going to use fondant but I have not decided what pattern. I think the end cake will have two tiers. The top tier will come off so I can give that one to her for her pictures. I used poka dots for decoration on this one, I made them out of the fondant that I made earlier.

One the final project, you can still see a little sugar. Ignore that. I need to finish with something, I am just not sure what........

The bow needs help but we are getting somewhere!

Big Girl Car Seat

Lately our little baby has had a hard time fitting in her baby car seat. So we read the manual and the pound limit had been passed!! So we moved her to her big girl car seat! Lucky for us, we bought it earlier so we did not have to make an emergency trip to the store! Her new seat is not as pretty as her old seat, but lets be practical......... We miss the old one, we had a lot of memories in that thing! It took her on her first car ride. It kept her warm when she was a little baby, it went from Mommies car to Nana's car with just a click! Oh we do miss our baby car seat! But I have a feeling that she will make new memories with this one too, plus it has neat cup holders.

Balloon Girl?

I know most of you have heard the story of the boy who went "missing" in a balloon. Well turns out he was safe all along. Well Addison watched the news with her daddy and she has been spotted hanging out with a balloon.

Well, actually she just carries her little balloon around even though it is going down she still loves it! She has had her balloon since she was in the hospital and it is just now going down. It does not float but that does not matter to little Addie. Jon saw her carrying it around and said we should post "balloon girl, found."

10 Months

Addison is 10 months today. I know, it may be a bit much to post every month about our little baby and how she is growing. But, years from now when she reads her book, (that I am making from her blog) then she will be so glad that I wrote all the silly things that I did.

She is growing so fast, it amazes me how fast they change and develop. She now has two words, Dada, and Bye bye. She even waves her little hand when she tells you bye. Now that she has discovered the fun it is to mimic us, she is trying many other sounds and words. We love it!
She has a grand total of 6 teeth. It is so strange to look at her and see all those teeth, it makes her look so big! She is chewing on everything, she even tries to chew on us.......She is eating really well, she eats everything we give her!
She is also trying to walk, which is bad and good. We want to see her grow, but she is growing too fast! She stood the other day by herself. She just stood in one spot trying to maintain her balance, but she is figuring it out very quickly!

(Here are a few pictures from a meal time, we have tried bibs over and over, but before she starts eating she takes the bib off and tosses it to the floor. So I just found a good stain remover and let her go!)

First Word!!!

This morning Addison said her first word, well words!!! She said Bye-bye, and she tried to wave her hands.. Then later this afternoon she tried to get Jon to hold her and she said "Da-Da." So we are really happy that our little Munchkin is talking! Now, she has a few other words to tackle, the main one of course is Momma!

Please ignore the rough momma look, we were working hard that day!
