First let me start my saying, I am not Superstitious, I am just a little stitious..(if you don't get that say it out loud) ..But with my recent happenings with minivans I am starting think someone is trying to give a hint to NOT drive a minivan!
(Side note, this is our second minivan in the past few months)
We just got a minivan to carry all the babies when they get here...good idea, right? Plenty of room, decent gas mileage, and we could buy it used for what we could pay....so good idea right??
So here is how the last minivan mishap happened...
Last night Liz came to visit, and we had a need to make a run to walmart....mainly because there is a Papa Johns inside that sales 5.00 pizzas. Yes, I crave pizza all the time!!!! I actually considered eating it for breakfast but decided that was not a healthy food choice to start the day.
So we got there and we were getting out of the car and I realized the van is acting possesed...the automatic doors were not automatic!! BAD SIGN in minivan world...so I tryed to crank it and there was NOTHING!!!!!! So I called Jon, and he was so happy to hear of this that he jumped in car to come save me and went to the wrong wal mart!!!That part was funny, mainly because at the Attalla walmart a man pulled up who looked like Jon, so I tryed to wave him down because Jon was yelling on the phone WHERE ARE YOU?????? And here is a big pregnant lady waving a stranger down, and then I realized he is not on a phone, he is not Jon...Then we figured out that Jon had went to the wrong walmart. (which I am pretty sure that is my fault....)
So we went in and did our shopping, and got the pizza. So we had a lovely picnic dinner in the minivan, in the walmart parking lot.
I know that the pregnancy hormones are taking over my ability to rationally think...because all I wanted to do was CRY, and SCREAM! While my lovely sister and friend and child sat back there eating pizza and laughing at me!!! (Good Friends!)
So finally I got it cranked and charged we thought, and so I was going to ease my way home...When I started backing out BAM!!!!! WE all screamed, it was not so funny anymore to my passengers!!! But the window popped and started going down, on its on....SCARY! I thought, we were being mugged or I hit a small person or child...scary!!! So I pulled back into the parking spot and called Jon who was on his way from the other walmart.
"Come get me, I am done, not moving!"
Jon, "I am almost there, don't do anything."
So Jon took the van and we all moved to the trailblazer. He decided to stop by an auto parts store and check it out...it was the battery, it was corroded. But the window just happened because it felt it was time to break!
So Jon made it home and told me that he was going to get the window to stay up. YAY! right??? NO!!!! He went out there with ducktape and newspaper! Never a good sign to the wife.
I helped him get it shut and then asked him if he wanted me to take it to the shop tomorrow...such a good wife, right? Well apparently Jon can fix it but not until after his surgery rotation and after this weekend! But guess what? He said I could drive it! WHAT??? WITH DUCKTAPE!!!??? NO!
He laughed when he told me because I think he knew that meant I would not leave the house for anything! For years I have thought how lucky I am to have a husband who can fix anything! Now, that is not a blessing....because I have a husband with many talents and NO time!!! So that means he does not want to spend the money to fix something when he could fix it himself, but when!?
So here are the images! Viewer beware...
I hope years from now I can look back on this whole experience and laugh like a crazy woman. But for now, I will not. I will most likely scream, and cry.....but disguise it with a small laugh. Because that is what my husband needs, or that is what I need from myself.

PS If you read this entire thing, you must love us, or you must have a great deal of free time...but either way thank you. I needed to vent!
Hilarious!! Am I allowed to say that yet?? Lol! The pictures are of course, the best part!! My window on my old Jeep just decided to fall on a suffocatingly hot day in AL a few years ago and I had no shame with pulling it up with Duct Tape (Josh was in CA) and for the LONGEST time I just rode around with it on there! hahah So I feel your 'shame'! So funny, hope things get actually FIXED soon tho! Thanks for the laugh.
ReplyDeleteWell, it "is" almost Halloween! Now that you have ductape on the window you finally have a certified Alabama vehicle. You could arrange the ductape in the letters of the local high school and paint it their colors and say you have school spirit! You could ductape the twins' ultra sound pictures on there under the heading, "Have you seen these babies?" Come on Hannah, you're a creative person!snigger, snigger
ReplyDeleteSounds like something that would happen here. You know Jeremy. He is Mr. DIY, too. I probably would have just kept driving it with the duct tape though. lol
